Joaquín Valebella is an attorney at the Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Litigation and Arbitration Departments. He began working for the law firm in 2011.
He received his LL.B. from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina in 1999 and has a Master´s Degree in Business Law from the Universidad Austral (2006). His thesis “El cambio de circunstancias en los contratos: perspectiva tradicional y tendencia moderna internacional en torno a este fenómeno” (The change of circumstances in contracts: traditional view and international modern trend regarding this phenomenon) got the highest grade.
Furthermore, Joaquín pursued studies on International Business Transactions at the Southwestern University School of Law – California, EE.UU. (Universidad de Buenos Aires – Universidad del Salvador) Summer Law Studies in Argentina -(May/June 2001).
He is regularly invited to participate as arbitrator in several arbitration competitions. He participated as arbitrator in the International Arbitration Competition – School of Law of the Universidad de Buenos Aires –School of Jurisprudence of the Universidad del Rosario de Bogotá- 2011, 2013 y 2014 Editions. Likewise, he was a jury member of the 1st Latin America Regional Pre-Moot Oral Rounds for the Foreign Direct Investment Arbitration Moot Competition (FDI Competition) in Buenos Aires, Argentina (2014).
He has extensively lectured, both in Argentina and abroad, on issues related to international arbitration.
Joaquín has gained experience in commercial arbitration and structuring of national and international deals.
He took part in more than 25 arbitrations under the ICC Rules and the UNCITRAL Rules, before the General Arbitration Tribunal of the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange and ad-hoc arbitrations. He also took part in legal proceedings regarding the nullity and/or affirmance of awards.
At present, he holds office at the Corporate and Litigation and Arbitration Departments and is the regular representative of the Law Firm at the ICC Argentina Arbitration Committee.
In 2014, he was appointed Regional Coordinating Committee member for the Latin American Chapter of the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) for the 2014-2016 period.
He participated in the 11th Annual Meeting of the ICC Latin American Arbitration Group that was held in Paris in September 2014.
